#thankfulthursdays

Since we’re in the month of November and being thankful is celebrated both in the US and Canada and because my Y & R PR folks suggested this theme and because I love, love, love Kathryn Jane’s gratitude FB posts she does every Wednesday, I decided to jump on this bandwagon. (Could that sentence be a tad too long? LOL)

Also, I want to do this because I have so much to be thankful for. One of our November Sisters of Suspense blogs is going to be a picture of us with our pets and a paragraph on why we’re thankful for them. Now how fun will that be? You will have to check it out. Here’s a sneak pick of one of two pictures I’ll have in my post. It’s Charley.IMG_1793

I’ve got the cover for ACT OF TRUST and I’m dying to show it to you, but it’s going to show up first on my newsletter which should go out later this month. So if you’ve not signed up for my newsletter, you better do it now. 🙂

My editor has ACT OF TRUST. 🙂

Last Saturday I wrote the first 816 words for

ACT OF BETRAYAL,

Book 3 in The Second Chances Series,  I can tell this book is going to whip my butt! It’s set in Dallas, a city I have visited, but have never lived in. It deals with financial shenanigans! You know how I am with numbers! I’m not sure it will come out in 2016. It may be early 2017. But I started writing it! I’m so thankful. WhooHoo!

I can publish THE THEATRE next year. It’s a stand-alone I wrote several years ago that I didn’t want to bring out right after publishing SECOND ACT. The stories and characters aren’t connected, but the setting is a theatre, so it seemed prudent to separate it some from SA.

We are finally having fall-like weather, and I’m grateful for the fog Monday morning and the high temperatures in the low 70s. FullSizeRender(56) I know some of you are thinking, “What?” But summer drags into September in Texas. We’re just grateful for not hitting the 90s anymore.  Mid to late November is when fall usually arrives. Everything is relative, I guess. 🙂

I’m thankful for a great plumbing company who fixed the leaking pipe and took the time to make sure the water meter hand wasn’t still spinning. They found the problem and fixed it, too. We have a water view at our lakehouse, not a fountain!FullSizeRender(57)

I’m hoping for some leaf colors later this month, but we’ve had a ton of rain, for which I’m grateful, because I believe the drought is over again. (Last May’s deluge ended the drought of several long years, but then came three long months of dryness again and everyone was hurting.) We seem to be experiencing weather extremes more and more. Where is medium? I’m all the more grateful for my friends who post FB pictures of gorgeous leaves. Here are of a couple of mine from years past. photo(15)  photo(10)

I’m grateful to be attending a banquet Sunday, Nov. 8  in Wichita Falls honoring Sigma Kappa members who joined 50 years ago. I’ll share some pics of that in a later blog.

Right after that I leave for Dallas for the National Parents As Teachers Annual Conference. I won’t be there the whole 3 days, but will attend a meeting of the Texas PAT Advisory Board, I’m grateful to be a part of. I’ve written about PAT in past blogs. I’m thankful for this very important program for assisting families, kids and schools.

I’m grateful to be attending the Lewisville Public Library author signing on Thursday Nov. 12. Those of you in the area, I hope will pop in.

So how about you. Share a couple of things your thankful for. Don’t tell me everything because you’ll get a chance every Thursday this month. 🙂 Love to hear from you.

  1. Nice post Marsha, I agree, it’s good to count our blessings. I’m thankful for many things. The fantastic group of writers that comprise The Sisters of Suspense. The fact that my DH doesn’t have to travel twelve hundred miles through snow and ice packed roads to go to work this winter. And I’m especially grateful DH made the decision to move closer to our daughter and that we are here to give her the support she needs with our grandson. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that we live in the only place in Canada that doesn’t get snow! 🙂

    • Hey, Jacquie. I agree about Sisters of Suspense. I feel like I’m a bee and fell into a honey pot. One of the best things that’s happened to me as a writer. 🙂 1200 miles was that every day? A round trip? Or he went that far and stayed for months? Any and all of those are the pits and anything would be an improvement. Glad you’re near your daughter. Those of us fortunate to live near are indeed blessed. But no snow? That’d be a bummer to me. LOL Thanks so much for stopping by. 🙂

  2. It’s such a good idea to remind us to stop for a minute and think about what I am thankful for. I’m thankful for having the chance to get to know my new daughter- in-law as she and my son live with us for a while. Thankful we are in a position to help the newly weds out. Thankful to have the time to devote myself to my writing – particularly over the next year as I aim at putting out three full length books and two shorts. Thankful to my book club who lets me come to our hilarious, warm, wine-y meetings even if I haven’t read the book.
Thank you for the the forum to do this.

    • Hey, Judy. You do have a lot to be thankful for. Nice when we can step in and help the kids. Book clubs are awesome supports. Wish you well with your books coming out next year. Think you’re so smart to bring them out so close together! Thanks for stopping and sharing. 🙂

  3. Love the look of your new website. I need to follow again. I haven’t received a notice lately of your posts. Thankful Thursday is an excellent idea. I’m thankful for the freedom of religion in the US. Many people in this world have to sneak around to practice Christianity. They fear to meet together to praise God, because if found out, they could be killed. But, still they do meet. We take our freedoms for granted. Thankful also for freedom of speech allowing us to take part in the Internet social media opportunities. And, thankful I can meet folks like you, Marsha, who become friends even though we haven’t actually met in person or even live near each other.

    • Hey, JQ. We are indeed fortunate to have the freedoms we do in this country. I love my church family and appreciate that I was brought up in a faith community. I do wish, others wouldn’t be so narrow in their beliefs as to not allow others to follow their faith. (Probably too deep a subject for here. LOL) I love that we’ve met this way, JQ. On occasion I’ve gotten to meet in person someone I’ve just known on the interenet and that’s really neat. But I wouldn’t have known of them at all if it weren’t for the internet. Pretty amazing when you think of it. I appreciate your friendship, JQ. Thanks so much for stopping and sharing.
Yes, you do need to sign up again for my blog. I have the same problem with Helena Fairfax’s blog, which I’ve faithfully followed, but I don’t get the emails anymore. When I tried to sign up, it tells me I already am. Ah, the blessings and curses of the intenet.

  4. Very nice post, Marsha. I’m also not getting your emails about your posts any longer.

I have much to be grateful for. And I thank God for: my family and friends (you included), good health, love, and happiness. I have a roof over my head, money in my pockets, adventures in my future. What else could I want?

    Susan
    P.S. Charley is adorable.

  5. Hey, Susan. Trying signing up again to follow. That should do it. Though I no longer get emails for Helena Fairfax’s blog either. Tricks of the interenet I guess. I need to be more diciplined just to write her name into the server. 🙂
You do have a lot to be grateful for. I think it’s really helpful to have a season of thankfulness to remind us of just how much we really have.
Thanks for stopping by. I always love to hear from you. Marsha

  6. Have fun at your signing! I love the pic of Charley – he’s a little ham, isn’t he? 🙂

I’m thankful that my worries over the bad things that life has in store are, in this moment, might-happens or will-happens. It’s all too easy to feel overwhelmed with all I can or will lose someday, if I allow my thoughts to go that direction. Today, everything is good. It’s a beautiful day in my favorite month of the year, and I’m determined not to mess it up feeling anxious over what I can’t foresee or change. (I guess I’m having a Thankful Friday!) ❤
