You may be wondering how long I’ll continue this “thankful” theme. I’m not certain. Initially, I did it for November because of Thanksgiving, of course. Then I realized I had many more things I was thankful for so I decided to continue through December. And now, I just don’t know when I’ll drop the theme. Guess you’ll have to keep tuning in to see. 🙂

#1 So today, it’s easy to know what to start with. I’ve mentioned the Sisters of Suspense blog before, and Jo-Ann Carson who inspired the group. All of the women are awesome, pitching in to do this or that job and helping out wherever needed like answering questions for technophobes like me. 🙂

# 2 If you’ve followed me much at all, you’ll know I love fall. Are you wondering in this month of December why I’m talking about fall? It’s because as I’ve been walking Charley the past couple of weeks, our trees have thrilled my soul. photo(11)

You see fall doesn’t begin in the Fort Worth, Texas area until mid to late November. It wasn’t until December, that our leaves really hit their stride. I just love, love, love the colors, and I was worried we weren’t going to have any this year because of all the rain. Normally, I’d have gotten my shot of fall colors in New England,  photo(10) Boothbay Harbor, Maine

but we didn’t make our traditional trip, so that made our Texas leaves so much more important. They are so beautiful. Red Oaks,  FullSizeRender(25)which can be bright orange and deep red. Bradford Pears with their deep burgundy leaves. photo(15)And certain crepe myrtles, some of which turn that deep reddish brown color.

Aside from the floods, and one set of freezing weather, it’s been gorgeous here. Lows in the 40. Highs in the mid to high 70s. Almost too warm for me. 🙂 FullSizeRender(24)Hard to complain about Texas weather right now. Winter traditionally hits us hard in January and early February. Sorry for those of you who’ve already experienced a couple blizzards. 😦

#3 For some reason KOBO has been advertising TRUTH BE TOLD on Facebook. So very cool!

#4 I’m thankful I’m back on Nutrisystem. I regained 9.5 lbs. of the 28.5 lbs, I lost earlier in the year. Finally, the switch clicked again, and I’m eating more sensibly again. I’ve lost 4.5 lbs and regained 2. You ever heard of the yo-yo? But I can do this. I will do this.

#5 I sent my 4th book, ACT OF TRUST, Book 2 of the Second Chances Series, to the formatter on Tuesday of this week. Act of Trust(2)I’m sure there’s more I could do with it, but at some point, you just need to cut it loose and move on to the next one. It will release in January now with a book signing then. I never did a book signing for TRUTH BE TOLD, after it came out in print so I’ll have copies of all four books on hand.

 thCV6ATN5QI’d like to wish a Happy Hanukkah to all my Jewish friends. Their Festival of Lights runs through Dec. 14.

    • Hey, Helena. I don’t think I’d really given much thought to our fall leaves until I started writing and the timing of the seasons became important to the setting. I’m pretty sure as a younger and more harried woman, I must’ve missed many beautiful sites of fall colors. Thanks so much for stopping by. 🙂

    • Hey, Susan. Glad you like the photos. One of my favorites is of the library in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. I use it as a prototype for a scene in ACT OF TRUST in my mythical town of Griffin Harbor. Yes for sure I’m blessed. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  6. Lovely photos. In CA our fall and winter come later too and we’re still dealing with falling leaves. Our native trees tend to not lose their leaves–live oaks, laurel and evergreens. So our color comes from imported ones. Our new place has a lovely oak of some kind that turned a gorgeous orange and a Chinese maple that was quite vibrant.

    BTW you should check your blog the day after too. I actually have commented several times lately but I usually do social media in the afternoon (2 hours later than your time).

    • Hey, Kate. Oh, you lucky woman! You have one of those Chinese maples! A couple of my neighbors do. Just awesome. Yes, our live oaks drop leave in the spring, too. Not as pretty as now and still messy. 🙂

  7. You are faithful and wise to continue to look for reasons to express gratitude. And your trees! Lovely photos. And I love that wreath. It must have been windy last night, because today our trees are sporting that bare-branch effect. Thanks for the lovely photos and words.
