I’m thrilled to announce the release of my 4th book, ACT OF TRUST, Book 2, The Second Chances Series.

For some reason this one has been more challenging to get downloaded everywhere. But hey, this is me and technology. It’s pretty amazing that I can do this part of my writing job!

Here’s the blurb:

A widow since 9/11 and a mother of grown daughter, Kate Thompson wants to keep her and her daughter safe, but the inheritance of land in Maine pushes her out of her comfort zone in Texas and into the arms of a Maine lawyer.

Maine lawyer and environmentalist, Jim Donovan wants to protect Aunt Liddy’s land and keep it from falling into the hands of the developers, but first he has to convince Kate Thompson she should hold on to the family land when she doesn’t even want to go look at it. However, he’s unprepared for the attraction each feels for the other, but denies exists.

Will they be able to settle the land deal before anyone else is killed or they break each other’s hearts?

This story is personal to me, since my younger daughter and her husband moved to NYC the Sunday before 9/11. A portion of the sale of each book will go to the 9/11 Memorial Museum and Gardens.

As to Birthdays: My cousin Gary Riegert and I are celebrating a significant BD today with a small gathering of family and close friends at Aventino’s Italian Restaurant. Gary has driven in from Tucson, AZ for the celebration as he has done on a number of occasions over the years. Funny. For all the years, he lived in Tucson and I lived in El Paso, no one ever made a big deal about our shared birthday. We’ve made up for that omission as adults. 🙂 photo(86) Gary & me at Family Reunion in Branson.

As to Old Friends: The best thing has happened to me this week. I’ve reconnected with two friends from my years in Puerto Rico where my father was stationed from my time in 7th through the end of 10th grade. Sandy Keith Gosh and Ann Peterpaul. They were my best friends during that time. (I actually found a pic of Sandy, but ran out of time to find one of Ann. I know I’ve got it somewhere–maybe if only in my head. Once we meet again, I’ll share a selfie of all three of us.)

We moved so much, I only attended the school I graduated from for two years.   I’ve always felt disconnected from that time of my life. I lived in Puerto Rico for longer than I’d lived anywhere until I went to college. Many people have connections from elementary school on up. I’ve not had that. But now I have Sandy and Ann, and we’re going to see each other in person sometime in 2016. It’s awesome.

  4. Wow! What a week for you. Exciting your book is out–congrats! And a significant birthday to celebrate with your cuz. Yes, I’ve re-connected with several friends from my elementary-high school years. I attended 1-12 grades in one school. Facebook has been wonderful for re-connecting. Happy birthday!!     • Hey, JQ. It’s been a bit stressful, and then add in all the lakehouse stuff that’s going on and decisions to be made. All good stress, but still. LOL Of course, it could be at my advanced age, I don’t deal well with stress. Oh, foot. Let’s be honest. I’ve never dealt well with stress. 🙂 How cool that you spent your whole school life in one school! Do you mean one school or one district? Because my daughters were in the same school pyramid elementary, middle, and high, but those were different schools. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing. 🙂

      • Just one two-story school building housed grades 1-12. They did add on a primary class addition sometime, but I was in 4th grade I think. My mom taught second grade and was thrilled to have a new classroom. Our class graduated with 42 kids.

  7. It’s wonderful your book could be released the same time as your milestone birthday! And then to reconnect with high school friends besides! You must be giddy with happiness! I’m happy for you, and really glad Gary pushed for a cousin reunion, even if you, Linda and I did all the planning and organizing! I think it’s also great the two of you continue to celebrate your shared birthday now that you are adults. Have a fantastic time tonight! Party on!
