My goodness the temps I’m reading about for the northeast are dumbfounding. 40 Below zero? Yikes! I read on FB that any exposed part of your body could freeze at that temp. The suggestion was to put Vaseline on anything not covered. Not sure how that works, but Vaseline can do anything, right? Kind of like Duct Tape! LOL
I’m writing this on Wednesday, and Charley and I did not do our morning walk this morning. The wind was whipping at about 15 mph and it felt like it was 17. The other day when I was trying to be a good Mom and take Charley out, he refused because the wind was so fierce! Normally, Charley will go out as long as there are no rain drops (no matter how small) to attack him. You can just see the choppy lake waters in this shot.
This is not too unusual for Fort Worth in January. I mean we’ve got the three weeks for the Stock Show going on. (Saturday the parade was canceled because of the temps and wind. Only one other time has that happened.)
Unlike other parts of the country, we will experience extreme cold, but then have several days of moderate temps-50s and 60s. Of course, the kicker is the wind! And we do get gales here, even in the bright sun like today.Wish you could hear the wind chimes.
So, what do you do to protect against these killing temps? Are you able to stay home? Do you have to get out in it? (I went to Pilates Wednesday morning, and walked Charley around noon, but other than that I’m staying in.) How many of you have generators to protect against loss of power?
You know I love snow (something we seldom get), and the pics I’ve seen on FB are beautiful, but these temps are just awful. Charley several years ago when it sowed.
Doing well with my healthy living plan, losing 5 lbs. since Jan. 1. Remember this isn’t a diet, but really a resolve to eat healthier. Did succumb to a snack Tuesday of chips, but that was the first in several weeks.
ACT OF SURVIVAL is with Beta Readers. Have heard back from one who caught just the kinds of things I needed her to catch. Thanks, Julie. 😊 My wonderful Cover Artist, Charlie Volnek, is working on the front & back cover. Excited to see her first efforts. Still hopeful of a late March release.
Hope you can stay warm, and I’d love to hear from you.
Book Signings: Friday, Feb. 15 for the Night of Romance at the Haltom City Public Library. Always a super fun event. Disappointed to not have new book.
Saturday, March 23 Home Run Author Event at the Arlington Stadium. Would love to see you at either of these. Will have a local signing when ACT OF SURVIVAL is released.
