So Much Going On

I hope your 4th of July was wonderful with friends, family, and food. Hard to go wrong with those things. It seemed to me all the fireworks displays were grander than usual this year. Quite spectacular. Saturday, we watched from the dock and had a good view of the base display. Kids and grands came over on Sunday for lake fun and hotdogs. Just a great time. So did you eat hotdogs or hamburgers?

Lots going on in my writing life, too.

**I’ve been interviewed by Tina Howard of the Leaves Book and Tea Shop (where we had the book signing a couple of Sundays ago) for The Fort Worth Magazine. The July cover has a hippopotamus on it with a feature story on our wonderful Zoo. You can find it around town. The online version hasn’t been updated yet with all the July stuff in it. The Good Reads article is on p. 24 and features moi? Very exciting. Thanks, Tina.

**Getting closer and closer with the book cover for COMPROMISE. Can hardly wait to show you. Working on last rewrites based on feedback from my Beta Readers. Bless y’all for helping out so much. Hope to send it to my editor before we leave for a Red River vacation with part of the family.

**I’ll be on N N Lights Book Bench for Book Lovers today. Spotlighting the 8TH Book Birthday OF VERMONT ESCAPE which released on July 19 in 2013. (This date also happens to be my SIL Kevin’s Birthday. Happy Birthday, sweetie) In honor of the book’s BD, I’ve got it on sale for 99 Cents for a week or so beginning today, July 8. Please check out Mrs. N’s blog throughout the month. Lots of opportunities to win stuff from many authors! Always a fun event and a $75 Gift Card besides books.

**The Greater Keller Women’s Club have asked me to make a presentation in September. I’m so excited. Besides talking, which you know I love, I’ll be able to sell my books. I love to get to meet folks and talk about my books, writing, and me. LOL And maybe I’ll find a few budding authors to encourage. Just like the book signing. I haven’t done a presentation in a long time, so I have my work cut out for me, but it’s all so fun. I’m so lucky to get to do this.

**Now this is really lucky. I won a FREE two week Book Tour with the Itsy Bitsy Books Promotions for TAINTED in August. Remember this poor book released in September of 2020. Not the best of times for promo, so I have few reviews. I hope others fall in love with this book and Red River, NM as much as I have. We’ll be having a Book Signing while we’re there. Thanks to Georgia Owens the President of The Friends of the Library for setting up the event.

**I had a great time on Isn’t It Romantic Book Club on Facebook last week. So fun to chat with folks. Lots in common with them.

**Lastly, I want to announce the winner from the July Newsletter Contest. Congratulations to Crystal Stewart who has received an e-copy of TRUTH BE TOLD. Remember I was going with the Christmas in July theme and this book takes place almost entirely during the Christmas holiday. (But it’s not a Hallmarkish book at all!) LOL

As always, I’m glad to hear from you.

  1. Congrats on all your upcoming projects. Sounds like fun. Love the newspaper article–can’t see the print, but great photo of you. Did you write them and ask for an interview or did they contact you because of your reading at the store? WTG!!!

We had a busy July 4 weekend and definitely brats on the grill, not hot dogs. But I love dogs!!! Our oldest grandson turned 21, so Fri, July 2, his birthday, his mom and stepdad invited a bunch to a restaurant. A perfect night for a birthday party on their pavillion. Ted’s bro came up for the party and stayed with us until Mon a.m. So we toured the sites in our area. Sara preached at church on Sunday and then we all trooped over to our deck for brunch. You can believe I was exhausted by the time Terry left. But fun exhaustion.

Enjoyed your newsletter. Keep up the good work! Hugs!!! J. Q. Rose **New Release:** Arranging a Dream: A Memoir* Available in print at amazon eBook available at your favorite digital bookseller

    • Hey, JQ. Wow, you did have a lot going on. If it were up to me, it would be brats, too, but everyone else is more bland. 🙂 The woman who owns the book store apparently always does a piece called, Good Reads. I’d called and asked her to do a book signing. I’d participated in some other events before the pandemic. I think that’s why she asked me. I’m really thrilled by it. I’d put a link so you can look at it on line, but the July mag isn’t update yet on line. You, btw, did a great interview. Really enjoyed listening. Thanks so much for stopping by. 🙂

  2. Sounds like you had a wonderful July 4th, Marsha. it’s a day like any other for us Brits, of course! Although someone was setting off fireworks in Bradford (my nearest city) when I drove through at the weekend, so I did wonder if it was an American ex-pat. I expect they were homesick, if so.
Very best wishes for all your upcoming events. I love NN Light’s promo events, and they’re really great for finding new authors. Wishing you much success!

    • Hey, Helena. Are fireworks legal in GB? Even though ours aren’t supposed to be shot off in towns, people still do. We’ve had lots of rain this year, so I didn’t report anyone. (Not that I’ve ever actually done that, but you know “rule follower” that I am, it makes me nuts when we’re in drought conditions and people randomly shoot off fireworks.) I think you introduced me to Mrs. N’s promo events. I’ve been very happy with them for not much money, too. Thanks so much for stopping by. 🙂

      • Hi Marsha, yes, fireworks are legal here, and anyone can set off fireworks in their own back garden. I don’t know if you’ve heard of our Guy Fawkes’ night, or bonfire night, on 5th November, but it’s when people have a bonfire and fireworks. It used to be just 5th November, but now it seems to be days in advance and days afterwards of fireworks, which sends my poor dog crazy with fear for days 😦 My kids used to love bonfire night, but now I no longer have to do it and I’m very happy to sit and watch everyone else’s fireworks from the warmth and comfort of my living room 🙂
