First, congratulation to Debbie Pruss who won an e-copy of TRUTH BE TOLD for commenting on the January Newsletter that went out last week. Thanks so much for playing along. Hope you enjoy the book.

And now for my Guest Author and good friend Carolyn Williamson writing as Carolyn Rae. Carolyn and I have known each other for many years through the North Texas RWA chapter, and for a few years we shared a publisher. She has some good things to say here at the beginning of the year. Take it away, Carolyn.
In 2022, Go for the gusto.
January – time for resolutions and a new start. Resolutions sound daunting and demanding. Instead, why not pick one thing, a habit to replace with a new, better one. Or maybe start a new project, one you’ve been thinking about. Now is the time to plan it while you have the enthusiasm to try it.
It’s best to start with information, by reading about the subject, asking experts, or both. Also ask how long it takes to get reasonably good at it. If you are a perfectionist like me, you may learn it takes longer than you expected, but don’t decide you are too old to try.
I was retired before I managed to get my first novel published. But if you want to write, you don’t have to wait until you retire. You can plan time for your activity around work as I did. And now, I have nine published novels and a cookbook.
If you have setbacks, figure out a way to do it better or work around it. You can do it and be proud of yourself. Expect a learning curve. You didn’t master learning to walk in a single day. My father told me I could do anything if I was willing to work hard at it.
To that good advice I’d add, be patient with yourself. Rome was not built in a day. Neither was Washington, D.C. or New York or Chicago. While you won’t be planning to build a city, you can be the designer of a project you can be proud of. Now, I need to finish my current romantic suspense novel and maybe start on that plaque with shells I’ve collected from Florida beaches.
Carolyn Rae Williamson
Carolyn Rae’s next romantic suspense novel, Romancing the Doctor, follows the adventures of Heather McKinley as she helps brilliant CDC Doctor Thomas Whistler catch a spreader of a mutated virus causing sterility. During Mardi Gras and on a cruise ship, they finally figure out who’s doing it and are hot on his trail, while each keeps a secret that may derail their growing attraction. Surprisingly, this was written before any hint of Covid 19. Releasing Jan. 22 and on sale for 99 Cents through Jan. 29. Don’t miss out. Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3rsnFf9

Thanks, Carolyn. These are great suggestions. Good luck with the release.
Now, let me remind everyone of a couple of events in the near future. One is on Facebook, and you’ll have a chance to meet new authors of seasoned romance books (including me 🙂 ) There will be chances to win books (e and print) and other kinds of swag. You have to sign up for the group. I do hope you’ll come. We’ll have lots of fun. The link is there at the bottom of the graphic.

Then February 11 if you’re in the Fort Worth Dallas area, you can come in person to Haltom City Public Library 7-9 pm. Wonderful authors, baskets you can win, chocolate, cool picture opportunities, and I’ve heard Belly Dancers! There will be panel discussions and readings from our books. You don’t want to miss this. I’ll have copies of all my print books, including the latest COMPROMISE. Really look forward to seeing you there. Always love to hear from you.
