Summertime and lots of people take trips. Are you one of those? So excited to say we are some of those lucky folks. I don’t know about you, but I’m a list maker for almost everything. Even some of my lists have lists. 🙂 I thought it might be helpful for me to share some of the items on my lists. All the pics are from our 2015 trip. Grands considerably younger in these pics.
Let’s get started.
Let neighbors know we’ll be gone and when we’ll return.
Cancel the Mail.
Cancel Lawn folks.
Make sure sprinkler system is set to go off twice a week for extended run.
Take Violets to daughter who will keep them alive.
Check that we have enough medications for the trip. Pack up meds.
Get garage opener to one daughter.
Get gate key to another daughter.
Ask one neighbor to take out and bring back in the garbage cans once while we’re gone.
Take Charley to get his toes trimmed. (We call it a “pawdecure”).
Get all of Charley’s pills together along with dog food and treats.
Find his house and clean it up.
Wash his blankets.
Gather Charley’s sweaters, poop sacks, leash, & harnesses.
Gather Charley food & water dishes.
Figure out what clothes to take to wear and wash everything.
Gather Pilates stuff: mat, weights, & stretchy thing & scales.
Email all documents & pictures I might need to write blogs while I’m gone (This may not apply to a lot of you.) 🙂 Email most recent copy of VULNERABLE to myself.
Pack all electronics: laptop, table, Nook, Kindle, cords for everything.
Figure out snacks for traveling. We like pretzels, carrot sticks, & nuts.
Unplug hot spot, computer, printer, TV, and all unnecessary electrical items.
Load car. Take a travel mug.
Have fun and take lots of pictures.
Some of the things on the list are done; others are not, but I’m making progress. We’re going to be gone for 3 weeks. We’ve never been gone for that long. I have a greater appreciation for all of you who regularly make that long a trip. And my hat’s off to those of you considered “snowbirds.” Don’t know how you do it.
This post is an experiment to see if I can write and post the blog using my Surface Pro, which is what I’ll have to do if you’re to hear from me during the vaca. So far it looks like it’s working. Fingers crossed. Our kids will be in and out of our house while we’re gone enjoying lake fun, so it won’t be empty the whole time.
VULNERABLE will be shipped off my wonderful Beta Readers before we leave, which is why I’m not getting any extra blogs posted beforehand. Getting close on that project, too. I’ve also sent cover info to 100 Covers the folks who did the cover for COMPROMISE.
So, are you getting away this summer? If so, where are you going and for how long? Love to hear from you.
I am now on Book Bub if you’d like to follow me there, I’d appreciate you doing so. Marsha R. West Books – BookBub
