In my Newsletter last week I revealed the cover for VULNERABLE. I suspect all of you here do not take the newsletter (and you should 😊) So for y’all here it is.

Big thanks to 100 Covers and to my Beta Readers Julie Miers, Charlotte Tomlinson, Teresa Cromer and Celia Naples. They actually chose this cover when I leaned toward another. What do the rest of you think? Yes, the lake plays a part in this book. You know me and settings. 😊
So this post has gone out later than usual because frankly I forgot. For some reason it wasn’t on my to-do list for Wednesday, and it always is. But I’ve been super focused on getting the book ready to go to my editor. I’m sending it tomorrow afternoon. Pretty much the last thing I do is read the book backwards. It’s a bit time-consuming, but my eyes see stuff they skip over when I’m going forward.
And then we woke up Wednesday morning to no hot water! I spent the day getting our plumbers to come out. And they did. Kenny’s Plumbing is an awesome company. If you live in in the DFW metroplex, you should check them out. Super-nice and super-efficient and super-fast.

While it was expensive, we didn’t have to get a new hot water heater which would have cost an arm and a leg. Apparently, hot water heaters have a sensor that tells them if water is leaking into the pan. A good thing. If the device senses water it shuts down everything. Well, we didn’t have a leak, the device died and sent bad signals. So we have a new sensor, and we should be good for another couple of years. But the water heater is a 2010 model, and my guys said it’s on it’s last legs. Good to know for planning purposes.
Pic below is what it looked like outside while I wrote this. We are having blessedly cool mornings. The heat is returning next week, but for now I can celebrate these mornings.

Today is the last day for this book sale, too. Don’t miss out.

Have you started to cool off yet? What do you think of the cover? Have you read ACT OF TRUST yet? It’s a good one. #2 in The Second Chances Series, set mostly in Maine though it begins in Fort Worth.Â
BTW, my wrist is way improved though not 100% yet. Doc said it would take 6-8 weeks.
Love to hear from you.
Isn’t this an exciting time when you can finally reveal the book cover and start the buzz about the book? Anxious to read it. When is its release date?? You are welcome to be my guest on my blog to shout about it! I am with you on forgetting to write my blog. Two weeks ago I forgot. It must be the weather. Fall fever? LOL…Yes, our days are beautiful here, but forecasts for HOT weather into the 80s this weekend. Where is fall? Best wishes with the editing. Kind of like dreading to turn in an essay to your 6th grade teacher because you know it will come back with red ink on it!

Hey, J Q. You so nailed it with pushing send to the editor. LOL I never thought of it that way..And at some point, you just have to let go. It will never be perfect, but it can be very good. With you, I love the fall and miss it when it’s delayed. We’ve had this wonderful “early” tease but generally we don’t see the 70s and 80s until late October. But this whole summer which began in May! has been nuts, so I’m not surprised we’ve had this tease. It’s almost like Mother Nature took pity and said, “Here you go. Hang on, I’m seniding the cooler temps. I will. Here’s a quick reminder of what it will be like.” Love to be on your blog. Thanks for the offer. Looking for late November early December. The story takes place Jan through about April. So it’s cold for 3/4 of the story. Someone asked me at a book signing if I ever timed releases to suit the time in the book. I wish I could do that, but it’s never worked out. Thanks so much for stopping by. 🙂

A very nice cover. At first glance, I thought it looked just like your pier and you had taken the photograph for the cover. Best wishes on your new book. Your books are ALWAYS interesting!! My sixth Kay Driscoll mystery will be out in November. (And I took the photograph for the cover.) 🙂

Your lake is beautiful!! Love the pictures!! At the cabin last weekend, it was pretty cloudy so I didn’t get any good sunrise pictures. I was out there in my nightgown as soon as I woke up hoping. Lol!!

PS. Susan, I’ve really enjoyed your lake pics. I LOLed at your nightgown comment. I ran out early this morning. Someone locally mentioned they’d missed seeing my morning pics, so I made sure to take some these pics. Thanks so much for stopping by. 🙂

Hey, Susan. Well, I sent 100 Covers quite a few pics from our lake to give them an idea of what I wanted. I’m really pleased with what they came up with. Our books may come out about the same time. I’ll host you on my blog if you’d like. I’m looking forward to reading your newest.
