Sales & Women & Events

Exciting times right now. I’m part of the SMASHWORDS Read an E-Book Week. You can find almost all but two of my books on ½ Price Sale through March 12. What a deal. If you’ve missed any this is definitely a great time to catch up. Besides mine, check out other authors, too. Here’s the link for all books. Some are Free.

Here’s the link for my books: Smashwords – About Marsha R West, author of ‘Compromise’, ‘Act of Survival, The Second Chances Series Book 4’, ‘Truth Be Told’, etc.

And next week March 12-18, you’ll find VULNERABLE on sale for 99 Cents, and it will be showcased on NNLight’sBookHeaven. Here’ a link for the blog, https://www.nnlightsbookheaven.com , but I’ll post on FB the link for my book especially. If you leave a comment, you have a chance at a $75 Amazon Gift Card. I’d definitely do that if I were you. 😊

Yesterday was International Women’s Day, celebrated for more than 100 years. I was surprised by that fact since I only became aware of it in the late 1970s. LOL I know that’s several lifetimes ago. The whole month of March celebrates Women. The first International Women’s day was celebrated on March 19, 1911. Now that is a long time ago. This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is #EmbraceEquity — a call to recognize “that each person has different circumstances, and (allocate) the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome,” from the International Women’s Day website via Wikipedia. This is a concept I first learned when I served on the Fort Worth School Board and had friends in the Special Education Department. They explained that fair wasn’t the same as equal. Equal gives everyone the same thing, regardless of what they need. Fair means giving folks what they need. It’s a profound concept.

I have some exciting events ahead. Sunday March 24th, I’ll be participating in an author event at Leaves Book and Tea Shop on 120 Saint Louis Ave. Fort Worth from 2-4 pm. Each of the authors (I don’t at this point know who the others are.) will read some of our work, and we’ll answer questions. And of course, sell our books. 😊 I’ve participated here before (prior to Covid), and they are lots of fun. Please mark your calendar and you know I’ll remind you as it gets closer. Below is a pic of me reading at Leaves last summer.

Me reading at a book signing at Leaves Book & Tea Shop

On Saturday April 15 from 11-4, I’ll be at the Haltom City Public Library Local Author Event. Selling books and reading from one of my books. This event used to be on a Friday evening near Valentines Day, but the library staff felt we’d get more exposure on a regular day. For those of you who haven’t attended this event before, it’s a beautiful facility and there will be giveaways. The pic is of one of my baskets from earlier events. Again, I’ll remind you as we get closer.

Putting in a plug for my newsletter. I hope you’re signed up. My newsletter and website/blog are the only social media I control. Twitter is well….who knows what’s going on there. And now Facebook is jumping on the certification bandwagon for a price of course. I won’t be doing that. So the monthly newsletter and this blog are the best ways to keep up with me. (And I hope you enjoy doing that. I love chatting with you both here and on my newsletter.) Here’s the link so you don’t have to go back to the main page of my blog. https://marsharwest.us16.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=189168308aef0448d91e6b406&id=d0c4a6ba67

Book 11 is progressing at a snails pace. I need to spend more time with my rear in the seat and my fingers on the keyboard. At this point, I’m at 7,960 words, heading toward 80 K. But it’s a beginning. Maybe next week, I’ll be able to share a blurb. That will force me to write a blurb. LOL

Red Bud trees we see on our walks. 🙂

I know some of you are still buried in snow. So sorry, especially when we and many people are beginning or full on into Spring. Please remember that Saturday we Spring Forward on the clock. The Texas Legislature, in its infinite wisdom, is considering doing away with Day Light Saving Time. I have to believe the entertainment lobby will keep this from happening. I know it’s a pain while we adjust, but leaving it means it will be dark at 9 am in the morning during the winter. I so don’t like that, and I love it being light at 9 in the summer.

Your thoughts on DLST? Are you’re still dealing with the white stuff? Have you heard of International Women’s Day before? Do you buy books on SMASHWORDS? As always, love to hear from you.
